In this passage we see

Jesus’ innocence proclaimed. (vs 4-6)

Ultimately, Pilate wasn’t being asked to decide Jesus’ fate.

Jesus fate was determined long before; Rev 13:8 says that the Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world was laid!

He was tasked with displaying Jesus’ innocence.

Why?! Because the sacrificial lamb had to be blameless. Spotless. Without blemish.

Jesus’ death demanded. (vs 6-7, 15)

Though the Jews demanded His death, they wanted to keep their hands clean.

Jesus’ betrayal condemned. (vs 11)

Judas either didn’t truly believe that Jesus was God…..or even worse, he chose to view God as being smaller than his greed.
And isn’t that what we do?! When we sin, aren’t we, in fact saying, God you are great!!! But you’re not greater than this……God you are GOOD!!! But you’re not better than this……
And maybe Judas didn’t see it like that! Maybe in the moment, we don’t VIEW our SIN like that, but when you look back at the garden, what does the Bible say, it says that Eve saw ……that the tree was good……it was good for food….and for making someone wise…….
Judas’ sin was that his material wants and needs were greater than his understanding, and therefore his desire to be with Jesus.

When we take our eyes off of the goodness of God, we will substitute anything else in His place.

So what will you do with Jesus?

You can mock Him like the soldiers did.

The world is full of people who look at the church, and they mock us. That look at how we live our lives, and ridicule us.

You can reject Him, like the Jews did

The world is also full of people who, may not be violently opposed to Jesus, but they may just say, yea, not for me.
Cadeau, gratuite - Momma say, “No Issa”……No Jesus.

You can try to pacify Him, and put Him off, like Pilate did.

This is where I think most of us live some portion of our lives. Even believers can live some portion of their lives in here, where we say, I don’t want to DENY you!!! I just don’t want to FOLLOW you!!!!

Or you can accept Him.
